I was born 76 years ago to an Irish mother and an Irish-American father. I was raised and educated in SSNY. I worked abroad before I was married. My husband had a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and that determined our family’s career path. We have had restaurants, bed and breakfast houses, a motel and now the only four diamond hotel in downtown SSNY. My husband died in 2015. I now live the winter months in Florida.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am the oldest of six siblings. The four surviving live within 4 miles of each other. I have three daughters. All are very intelligent, productive and doing a superior job raising their families. My proudest accomplishment in life.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Our oldest daughter has the reins at the hotel. Moved the hotel into the 21st century, always sees the big picture. That allows me to play the part of hostess. conversing with the guests.

Osteria Danny, Chianti, Sperry’s,
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Forever. My summer jobs as a student were always tourist related. I loved them all.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Probably Charles Wait and his staff at the Adirondack Trust Company. Broadway would not be what it is without that bank.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Probably Ireland. During the pandemic I missed the funerals of an uncle and of a cousin’s husband, two people I was extremely fond of.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I love The Sting. On TV it’s Antique Roadshow.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I don’t listen to music
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Farmer’s Hardware, the shop not the restaurant. Starbuck’s, the department store not the coffee shop
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
