Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
There are so many but the ones that bring me a great deal of nostalgia are Uncommon Grounds, DA’s, and Saratoga Arms. I was first introduced to Uncommon Grounds in 1995 when I Started Skidmore College. I was at Uncommon frequently throughout my college career – it has the best bagels and the coffee is always hot. Desperate Annie’s was the first bar that I went to when I turned 21. Saratoga Arms – its charm, the beautiful rooms, the food, shall I go on…? I took my wedding pictures at the Arms. It was the best decision that I ever made. The pictures came out so beautiful. Also, Saratoga Arms is where my husband and I stayed after we got married.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I attended Skidmore College from 1995-1999. It was an amazing experience especially since Skidmore is located in our beautiful City of Saratoga Springs. I moved to NYC after I graduated and met my husband who is native to Saratoga Springs; he was born in Saratoga Hospital. We frequented Saratoga Springs while my husband and I dated. Once we had children, we made the decision to move here. Currently we live in downtown Saratoga Springs.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
There are two people that come to mind – Joyce Ure and Sheila Sperling. Joyce is the owner of Cudney’s Cleaners. She learned the business on her own and now owns Cudney’s. She is one of the hardest working people that I know. She always looks at the glass as half-full instead of half-empty. Her energy, and her passion is contagious. Sheila is one the first friends that I made since moving to Saratoga Springs. We have coffee meets where we talk about life and well whatever is on our minds. The way she cares about people, her love for her family, her dedication to her work, are all incredibly admirable.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
